Our transport services include:
- Hospital to nursing home or private home
- Inter-hospital transfers
- Nursing home or private home to facilities such as doctors; and dentists’ offices and clinics, radiology, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy departments, and many other medical and special educational programs and services.
- Transfers to out-of-area medical centers such as Milwaukee, Marshfield, Madison, and Mayo Clinic.
Medi-Vans operates from a central location -- Green Bay – which enables us to provide service to the Fox Cities and all of Central and Northeastern Wisconsin.
We began service in Green Bay in October, 1977 with two vans. We now operate 30 vans and regularly serve 25 nursing homes and four major hospitals in the area. Through our Green Bay based operations we offer expanded services to Shawano, Oconto, Marinette, Kewaunee, Door, Manitowoc, Outagamie, Winnebago, and Calumet Counties.
Medi-Vans drivers are required to maintain excellent driving records. In addition they have all completed special medical training required to by the State of Wisconsin offering our passengers utmost safety and dependability.
Our vehicles are late model Ford and Dodge vans equipped with wheelchair lifts and steps to accommodate non ambulatory passengers. All vehicles are radio equipped, keeping drivers in constant contact with each other and with the dispatch office.
Several public agencies provide funds for the transportation of the elderly and disabled with Medi-Vans that includes:
- - Eligibility is evidenced by a Medical Assistance card with current effective dates. The trip must be for medical purposes , Persons not in a wheel chair will need certification by a doctor that they cannot utilize conventional forms of public and private transportation. Medi-Vans will provide a “Transportation Prescription” for such certification which may be valid up to three months.
- - Approved transportation for veterans must be obtained prior to transport. The trip must be for medical purposes.
- Transportation funds are approved through the Department of Health and Social Services for some specialized transport needs.

Everyone should be able to use public transportation to get where they need to go. Green Bay METRO has been providing bus service for many years. IN 1988, METRO began providing van transportation to people unable to use the fixed route bus service.
METRO’s para-transit is curb-to-curb transportation for people with disabilities who have been certified as unable to use METRO fixed route bus service for some or all trips.
Service is provided by METRO’s para-transit carrier – Medi-Vans’ courteous, professional drivers with put you at ease right away as you travel to your destination. |
